A Step Towards a Better Tomorrow

With the aim of highlighting the growing dependence on mobile phones and its impact on childhood, the students of St. Lawrence High School & Junior College presented a thought-provoking Hindi Nukkad Natak on the theme‘Mobile Ki Screen Ke Peechhe Khoya Bachpan’ at prominent public places across the city, including Pandav Leni, Sambhaji Stadium, Jogger’s Park, Gamane Ground and Nana-Nani Park. Through their heartfelt and impactful performances, the students portrayed how childhood is gradually slipping away behind mobile screens, replacing the laughter of friends, outdoor games and precious family moments with virtual interactions. The presentation beautifully reminded people of the joy of playing outdoors, running in open spaces, making friends and creating memories beyond screens. It urged parents and children alike to limit unnecessary screen time, use technology positively and reconnect with one another through meaningful interactions. The performance struck an emotional chord with the audience and received enthusiastic applause, as spectators appreciated the message of reclaiming childhood and restoring the warmth of real-life relationships. While the Hindi Nukkad Natak focused on nurturing healthier relationships andencouraging children to rediscover the joys of childhood beyond mobile screens, the students further extended their message of social responsibility through a Marathi Pathanatya on ‘Jal Sanvardhan’, highlighting another pressing concern that demands collective attention – water conservation.

This initiative was undertaken in view of the approaching drought-like situation, the anticipated increase in water demand during the upcoming Kumbh Mela and the urgent need for water conservation. Through their convincing and impactful performances, the students delivered a strong message about conserving every drop of water and using this precious resource responsibly. Their efforts received enthusiastic applause, with several spectators pledging to adopt water-saving practices. The students participated wholeheartedly, recognising their responsibility towards society and the environment. Through these initiatives, the school successfully nurtured civic responsibility, environmental consciousness and the spirit of active citizenship among its students, while inspiring the community to become agents of positive change.
