Knowing our neighbours at St Lawrence High School and Junior College
Learning about our neighbouring countries helps us understand the world better. The Grade 2 students at St. Lawrence High School and Junior College learned about the neighbouring countries of India with the help of a PPT and classroom activities.
The children learned the names of the nine neighbouring countries — Pakistan, Afghanistan, China, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Maldives. Teachers showed maps and pictures so that students could easily identify the countries around India. They also learned about the special foods, traditional dresses and greetings of these countries.
To make the lesson more fun and interesting, the teachers dressed up in the traditional attire of the different countries. The children were very excited to see the colourful dresses and learn about different cultures. Through this session, students understood that even though we belong to different countries, we are all equal and should respect one another. They learned the importance of peace, kindness and of helping each other. The students enjoyed the activity and learned in a joyful and meaningful manner.
