The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at St Lawrence High School & Junior College.
The programme began with the national anthem, “Jana Gana Mana”, which filled the air with a sense of unity and pride. This was followed by the patriotic song “Vijayi Vishwa Tiranga Pyara”, honouring the tricolour as the symbol of our nation’s strength and freedom.
A patriotic medley was then presented, followed by an energetic song paying tribute to our brave soldiers. The heartfelt renditions stirred deep emotions among the audience and reminded everyone of the sacrifices made for the country’s independence.
The programme continued with the young students expressing their views on freedom, the glory achieved by our nation in the past 78 years and the state of affairs in the country today.

The students were addressed by the Trustee, Col Vijay Kumar Datta who with his words reignited the spirit of patriotism in the students.
As the celebration drew to a close, the entire gathering joined in singing “Vande Mataram” as the grand finale, filling the atmosphere with patriotic spirit and unity.
In the closing remarks, the anchors reminded everyone that freedom was earned through courage, unity, and sacrifice. The event concluded with the collective chant — “Jai Hind! Jai Bharat! Vande Mataram!”— leaving every heart brimming with pride and commitment to the nation.
