At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, a learning session was conducted for the Grade 2 students to help them understand the difference between उ (ु) and ऊ (ू) की मात्रा.

 The session was conducted to strengthen students’ basic language skills and to help them understand the correct use of मात्राएँ while reading, writing, and speaking.

The main objective of the session was to develop clarity in pronunciation and to help students understand how changing the मात्रा can change the meaning and usage of words.

After learning आ की मात्रा, इ की मात्रा, and ई की मात्रा, the teachers organized a creative and interactive activity to explain उ (ु) और ऊ (ू) की मात्रा in an engaging manner. Students were given words without मात्रा and were encouraged to identify whether उ (ु) or ऊ (ू) की मात्रा should be applied, which motivated them to actively participate in the activity. The teachers also explained the concept of ह्रस्व (short) and दीर्घ (long) pronunciation related to उ (ु) और ऊ (ू) की मात्रा.

The joyful learning environment helped students understand the difference between the two मात्राएँ clearly, recognize similar-sounding words with different meanings, and gain confidence in using उ (ु) और ऊ (ू) की मात्रा correctly.
