Pattern practice at St Lawrence High School and Junior College
At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, the Grade 1 students were introduced to the concept of patterns in Mathematics. They learnt that a pattern is a sequence that repeats in a particular order.
Students were guided to observe, identify, and recognise patterns using colours, shapes, numbers, and pictures. They practised continuing and completing patterns by understanding the repeating sequence.
They also learnt to create simple patterns using classroom materials, drawings, and worksheets. These activities helped them develop logical thinking and sequencing skills.
Through hands-on learning, students gained a clear understanding of order, repetition, and consistency. Learning patterns enhanced their concentration, observation skills, and creativity.
