Tiger tales at St Lawrence High School and Junior College
At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, the Grade 1 students learned about the Tasmanian Tiger, an endangered animal that once lived in Australia and Tasmania. The children were fascinated to discover that the Tasmanian Tiger looked like a dog but had tiger-like stripes on its back. They also learned that it is now considered extinct, making it an important species to study and remember.
As part of their activity, the students researched information about the Tasmanian Tiger in their computer class. They enjoyed viewing pictures, reading simple facts, and understanding why it is important to protect animals.
The children then coloured a picture of the Tasmanian Tiger and wrote short facts about it in their notebooks. This helped them remember what they had learned in a fun and creative way.
The whole class thoroughly enjoyed the activity and felt happy to learn about such a rare and special animal from the past.
