Our Helping Hands at St Lawrence High School and Junior College

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Mahatma Gandhi

The Grade 2 students of St. Lawrence High School and Junior College learned about “Our Helping Hands” through an engaging EVS activity. They learned important safety helpline numbers such as, Police – 100, Fire – 101, Ambulance – 108, and Emergency – 112. They also spoke about community helpers using models of a Police Officer, Doctor, and Firefighter, helping them understand how these helpers keep us safe and healthy.

The objective of this activity was to help students understand the importance of community helpers and neighbourhood places. Students explored places such as hospitals, banks, post offices, malls, and movie theatres and learned about the tools used by different helpers. The activity encouraged children to respect and appreciate community helpers and understand how they make our lives easier, safer, and better every day.
