Discovering India’s Temple Heritage at St Lawrence High School and Junior College!

India’s rich cultural diversity is beautifully reflected in its stunning temples, which are not only places of worship but also architectural marvels. The Grade 4 students from St. Lawrence High School and Junior College embarked on an enriching journey to explore India’s temple heritage, gaining valuable insights into the country’s history, art, and culture.

During their exploration, the students learned about the two prominent temple styles: Nagara and Dravida. They discovered the unique characteristics of each style and studied various temple components, including Jagati, Mandap, Garbhagriha, Shikhara, Kalasha, Dhvaja, Vimana, and Gopuram.

They learned about the importance of temples in Indian culture and history, the architectural styles and designs that reflect regional influences.The students developed cultural awareness, which will benefit them throughout their lives.
