A lesson in stories at St Lawrence High School and Junior College

“Stories help us dream, learn, and understand the world.”

At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, the Grade 1 students enjoyed reading the story “Inga and the ten fairy helpers” in their Kathalaya session.

The story was about a girl named Inga, who was very lazy and never helped her parents. She expected everything to be done for her. However, one day, she got ten fairy helpers and she realized that no one would always do her work and she had to take responsibility for her own tasks like cleaning her room and washing the dishes with the help of ten fairy helpers.

Through this story the students understood that the ten fairy helpers are nothing but their own fingers. For better understanding the students took part in an engaging activity where they arranged story flashcards in the correct sequence. This not only helped them recall the storyline but also enhanced their cognitive and sequencing skills.

Through this storytelling session, the children learned valuable life lessons about being responsible, doing their own work, and helping others. It was a joyful and meaningful way to build their cognitive and comprehension skills.
