Everyday Heroes: Learning About Community Helpers at St. Lawrence
“Helping doesn’t cost a thing, but its impact is priceless.”
At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, our young learners were introduced to real-life heroes—community helpers like doctors, firefighters, and police officers—who work tirelessly to keep us safe and healthy.
Children discovered how doctors care for the sick and injured, and learned to dial 102 in medical emergencies. They met firefighters, understood their brave role in emergencies, and noted the fire emergency number 101. The visit from a police officer taught them how police ensure safety in our neighborhoods and how to reach them by calling 100.
Adding excitement, teachers dressed up as these community helpers and explained their importance in our daily lives.
Through this engaging session, students not only admired these heroes but also gained practical knowledge on how to respond in emergencies. It was a meaningful step toward building awareness, responsibility, and gratitude in our young learners.
