Living life through stories at St Lawrence High School and Junior College

“There is no greater power on this earth than the story.” Libba Bray

Stories are the best way to enhance children’s knowledge. At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, the Grade 2 students listen to various stories in the Kathalaya sessions and these help them to learn life skills, values, morals and good English communication as well.

Last time they heard the narration of the story “The Cat and the Rat” along with various stick puppets and props that helped them enjoy the emotions and expressions of the story. Through this story, the students also learnt the importance of our community helpers and their unique contribution towards society.

Thus, they had a wonderful time learning and listening in the first two parts of the session. Then in the last 2 parts of the session, they were able to recall and narrate the story by themselves using fluent English communication.
