Fun with Fractions
The Grade 5 students of St. Lawrence High School & Jr. College participated in a hands-on mathematics activity designed to help them grasp the concept of fractions. The activity involved cutting paper into various fractional parts and arranging them on a chart paper to create a visual representation of fractions, such as halves and quarters.
In addition to working with paper sheets, students were given a whole picture and asked to divide it into different fractional parts. They also used colors to shade different parts and highlight the fractions.
Through this tactile learning activity, students gained a practical understanding of fractions. They were able to visualize the size differences between fractions and understand how smaller fractions add up to make a whole. The students enjoyed the activity, and it enhanced their ability to recognize fractions in their surroundings.
