India’s topographic diversity celebrated at St Lawrence High School and Junior College

“Every mountain top is within reach if you just keep climbing.” – Barry Finlay

Our Grade 2 students at St. Lawrence High School and Junior College explored the majestic Himalayas and the vast Thar Desert while learning about the major landforms of India.

This session was conducted to help children appreciate the beauty of nature, understand the importance of different landforms, and develop basic map-reading skills in a fun and interactive way.

The young learners discovered that the Himalayas stretch from the North to the East of India, remain snow-covered throughout the year, and are home to famous peaks like Kanchenjunga in Sikkim. They also learnt that the highest peak in Maharashtra is Kalsubai and named various landforms around Nashik with great excitement.

They were equally fascinated to know about the Thar Desert, which lies in the North-West of India and is the largest desert in the country. They learnt that the desert is dry and sandy, with very little rainfall, but is also home to unique plants, animals, and vibrant cultures.

Thus they were made aware of the various types of land forms of their country.
