Khari Kamai – The Value of Hard Work at St Lawrence High School and Junior College

“The joy of earning becomes greater when we use it to bring joy to others.”

St. Lawrence High School and Junior College celebrates September as Gratitude Month every year as a part of its Founder’s Day celebration. Inspired by the values of our Founder, the children learn that whatever we earn through our efforts should also be shared with those in need.

As a part of this celebration, the Grade 4 students participated in the Project Khari Kamai. For more than 15 days, they performed small, age-appropriate jobs at home and in their neighbourhoods to earn money through their own efforts.

The activity helped them understand that no work is big or small. They learnt the value of hard work, responsibility and money, and realised that every earning requires effort.

The most meaningful part was that the children used their hard-earned money to donate shoes to children at an orphanage. Khari Kamai taught our children to work with dignity, value what they earn, and share with gratitude.
