Making Math Fun at St Lawrence High School and Junior College
“Mathematics helps us find patterns and make sense of the world around us.”
At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, the Grade 1 and Grade 2 students enjoyed a fun hands-on Math activity on Classification, Sorting and Grouping. Using beads, coins, ice cream sticks, and blocks, they sorted and grouped objects based on colour, size, shape, and type, developing observation and logical thinking skills.
Students also made groups of twos, threes, and tens to strengthen their number concepts. The Grade 2 learners created their own sorting rules and challenged their friends to identify them. The activity made learning enjoyable while building important Math skills such as pattern recognition, data handling, and problem-solving.
