Taking the necessary “measures” at St Lawrence High School and Junior College!
At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, a special Math session on Measurement was conducted for Grades 1 and 2 to help students understand the concepts of length, weight, and capacity through real-life activities.
The session was organized to make learning practical and meaningful. Students measured classroom objects using their handspan, used a weighing scale to compare the weight of vegetables, and explored capacity by filling water into different containers to see how much each could hold. These hands-on activities helped them clearly understand how measurement is used in daily life.
Similarly, the Grade 3 and 4 students learned to convert units of measurement such as metres to centimetres (m to cm), kilograms to grams (kg to g), and litres to millilitres (L to mL), and vice versa.
This session was conducted to strengthen their understanding of conversions and improve their problem-solving skills. Through guided practice and discussion, students understood the concepts clearly, making it a fun and meaningful learning experience for all.
