Unicorns and reality checks at St. Lawrence High school and Junior College
At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, the students of Grade 1 enjoyed reading the book “Yuki the Unicorn” by Sonia Mehta. The story shares a lovely message that always be yourself unless you can be a unicorn, then always be a unicorn.
Through Yuki’s journey, students learned important values such as self-acceptance, friendship, perseverance, and believing in oneself. The story teaches children that everyone has unique abilities and that being different is something to be proud of.
Yuki learns to accept and appreciate her own strengths instead of trying to be like others, helping students understand the importance of self-confidence. The story also highlights kindness, empathy, and supporting one another.
This heartwarming tale encourages children to develop a positive self-image, respect individuality, and face challenges with courage and optimism.
