Welcoming Ganesha at St Lawrence High School and Junior College

Daisaku Ikeda quotes ” Great art is created only through diligent and painstaking effort to perfect and polish oneself.”

St Lawrence High School and Junior College hosted a unique and enriching experience for their Grade 3 and 4 students – a Ganesh idol making workshop using Shadu Mati – a traditional type of clay used for making idols. The workshop aimed to introduce students to the art of idol making, while also teaching them about the cultural significance of Ganesh Chaturthi.

The workshop provided a hands-on experience for our students, where they got to shape and mold the Shadu Mati into beautiful Ganesh idols. Under the guidance of experienced artisans and their parents the students learned various techniques and tips to create their own unique idols.

The workshop was not just about creating idols, but also about learning the cultural significance of Ganesh Chaturthi and how not to cause more pollution in the name of religion.
