What a Whale at St Lawrence High School and Junior College
At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, the Grade 1 students learned about the Finback Whale, an endangered marine animal and the largest creature to have ever lived on Earth. The children were amazed to discover that the Finback Whale can grow as long as a school bus and weighs more than any animal in the world.
During their computer class, the students researched interesting facts about the Finback Whale. They enjoyed watching pictures and short videos, reading simple facts, and understanding how Finback Whales live in the deep ocean. They also learned why the Finback Whale is endangered and why it is important to protect animals and their habitats.
As part of the activity, the children coloured a picture of a Finback Whale and wrote short facts about it in the worksheets provided by the teacher. This hands-on activity helped them remember what they had learned in a fun and creative way.
The class had a wonderful time discovering more about this gentle giant of the sea and felt inspired to care for the amazing creatures that share our planet.
