At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, magic met mindfulness when our Grade 2 students explored the enchanting story “Winky the Careless Little Wizard.” Through this delightful tale, children learned that while carelessness can lead to mistakes, every mistake can also become a powerful lesson when met with awareness and responsibility.

The storytelling session not only nurtured reading, comprehension, and creative writing skills, but also encouraged imagination and self-belief — the true magic that sparks growth.

Adding a creative twist, students designed their very own magic wands by decorating pencils with shimmering stars and invented unique spells using imaginative words. With laughter, excitement, and curiosity filling the air, the classroom turned into a world of wonder where learning felt truly magical.

Through Winky’s story, our young learners discovered that real magic lies in believing in oneself, learning from mistakes, and using creativity wisely. It was a joyful experience that blended fun, fantasy, and meaningful learning — a day to remember for every little wizard!
