In an inspiring move to integrate physical fitness and mental well-being into the school curriculum, Class 9 students of St Lawrence High School and Junior College enthusiastically embraced the ancient practice of Suryanamaskar, or Sun Salutation. This series of twelve yoga poses not only promotes physical health but also instils discipline, focus, and mindfulness among young learners.
The initiative to introduce Suryanamaskar to Class 9 students was spearheaded by the Marathi department. Recognizing the numerous benefits of this age-old practice, the department organized an activity to educate students about the significance and correct method of performing Suryanamaskar. The activity included demonstrations by yoga experts, detailed explanations of each pose, and discussions on the physical and mental benefits of regular practice. By making this ancient practice a part of their daily routine, students are learning valuable lessons in discipline, mindfulness, and self-care. The school plans to continue and expand this initiative, hoping to inspire more students to adopt the practice of Suryanamaskar for a healthier and happier life.
