Bringing Words to Life: A Fun-Filled Vowel Activity for Grade 1!
At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College learning became an exciting adventure for the Grade 1 students as they participated in a hands-on “Missing Vowel Card” activity, turning language learning into a fun and engaging experience.
In this interactive session, students were given sentences with missing vowels. One by one, they stepped forward, analyzed the word, and placed the correct vowel card to complete it. The activity aimed to strengthen their understanding of vowel sounds while improving spelling and reading skills.
The classroom buzzed with excitement as young learners eagerly took turns, confidently placing vowels to form words like “Summer,” “MONSOON,” and “RAINBOW” The enthusiasm and active participation of the students highlighted their growing interest in language learning.
This method of learning helps children to grasp concepts faster while enjoying the process. It also builds their confidence and encourages teamwork.
