Clothes We Wear

“It’s a fabulous thing to give life to fabric, to make something move well, the harmony of color.”

—Hubert de Givenchy

The art of making clothes is a remarkable process that blends creativity, skill, and tradition.

At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, our young learners recently explored the fascinating world of clothing during their EVS session. They delved into various aspects of clothing, from understanding different types of fabrics to learning about the significance of clothing in our daily lives. The session covered how clothes are made, the materials we use, and the appropriate attire for different occasions and climates.

The children also gained an appreciation for the hard work and dedication involved in the clothing production process. They were taught to respect their garments, recognizing the effort and craftsmanship that goes into each piece of clothing.

In addition, the session introduced them to the rich diversity of traditional clothing in India. They had the opportunity to experience and understand the different fabrics and designs that make up our nation’s vibrant cultural heritage.

By the end of the session, the children had not only learned about clothing but also embraced the idea that “Fabric is the most extraordinary thing; it has life. We should respect the fabrics and the clothes we have.”

This engaging and educational experience left a lasting impression, teaching the students to value the clothes they wear and the cultural significance behind them.
