Hands-On Learning: Grade 2 Students Explore the World of Measurement”

As Lord Kelvin once said, “If you cannot measure it, you cannot improve it.” Inspired by this idea, the Grade 2 students of St. Lawrence High School and Junior College delved into the fascinating world of measurement, learning about weight, volume, capacity and length through hands-on activities.

Students explored weighing machines and measured fruits and vegetables, experiencing the concept of weight practically. Using measuring tapes, they determined the lengths of various objects, enhancing their understanding of measurement in everyday life. Buckets, bottles, and glasses were used to explore the concept of capacity by pouring water, helping them grasp real-life applications of volume.

This interactive activity provided students with a fun and practical learning experience, teaching them that measurement is an essential part of daily life. By engaging in these activities, they gained skills that will help them observe and interact with the world more thoughtfully.
