Leaders are not born, they are made!
In their General Knowledge lesson, the students of St. Lawrence High School and Junior College learned about the Prime Minister of India.
They first got to know how this is an important post in any country as the Prime Minister is like the head of a country who has to make important decisions and take care of its people.
Teachers explained to the students that just like families and schools need a leader, a country also needs a leader. That leader is called the Prime Minister. They also explained how a good leader is one who is responsible and efficient and punctual.
Then to better understand how a Prime Minister is chosen, we had our own Class Election. The students were asked to think about which child fits all the required criteria mentioned above. They were encouraged to be honest and unbiased in their choices. Every student wrote the name of a student they thought would be a good monitor on a small paper & teachers selected some students who got the most names.
Students voted for their favourite candidate.
Teacher counted all the votes fairly and then the student with the most votes became the Class Monitor. Thus all students learned that a leader should be kind, fair, and responsible. The teacher also explained that Elections help people to choose a leader and how everyone’s vote counts.
Now, our Class monitor helps us, just like the real Prime Minister helps the country.
It was a fun and exciting way to learn about leadership!
