“Road Rules Are Not Suggestions – They’re Lifesavers.”
The students of various classes of St. Lawrence High School & Jr College visited the Traffic Park where they received an insightful and educational experience about road safety and traffic rules in India. The visit was designed to educate young minds on the importance of being responsible pedestrians and future drivers.
The park is well-equipped with various traffic signals, road signs, and simulated roadways. The visit began with a guided tour where the students were introduced to different types of traffic signs, including mandatory, cautionary, and informative signs.
The students were informed about the legal requirements for helmet use in India and how wearing a helmet can significantly reduce the risk of head injuries in case of accidents.
The visit included interactive sessions where students could ask questions and engage in discussions about road safety. The students also participated in a simulation exercise where they practiced cycling. They learnt the places where they can and can’t honk.
During the visit, the officials explained the 110 traffic signs and its meanings. They also addressed the rising concern of hit-and-run cases and made them aware of the importance of helping accident victims and reporting such cases to the authorities.
The officials shared alarming statistics regarding road accidents in India. The students were urged to take road safety seriously and spread awareness among their peers and families. The visit to the Traffic Park was an eye-opener for the students, providing them with essential knowledge about road safety and traffic rules. It highlighted the importance of being vigilant and responsible on the road, whether as a pedestrian or a driver. The school plans to organize more such visits in the future to reinforce the message of road safety among the students.
