Science at work in our bodies!
A surprise soup party was organised at St. Lawrence High School and Junior College for the Grade 2 students. They kept their eyes closed and touched, smelled and tasted the soup, which was served to them and had to guess what it was only through their sensory organs. Thus they were taught this topic through a direct real life application.
At St.Lawrence we always believe in making use of the students’ existing knowledge and wisdom to effectively convey new ideas, rather than spoon feeding them. Their opinions and guesses and ideas all become a necessary teaching aid in class – which enhances the quality of the lesson.
The teachers asked relevant questions related to each sensory organ and this made the students learn how our brain’s strong networking system connects everything in our bodies and carries messages at a super fast speed.
Everyone enjoyed the yummy soup and appreciated their smoothly functioning sense of taste.
