Sharing is Caring: Lessons in Compassion on Founder’s Day at St. Lawrence High School and Junior College!
At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, the spirit of sharing and compassion took center stage on this year’s Founder’s Day. Inspired by the values instilled by our beloved founder, Summan Datta Ma’am, students learned the true essence of giving with an open heart—without expecting anything in return.
This year, the students of the primary section took part in a heartwarming donation drive. With the support of their parents, they collected items to share with those in need, a testament to the selfless values taught at our school. One particularly touching moment was when the students of Grade 4 visited the Ashram School in Trimbakeshwar.
The visit left a lasting impact on our students. Seeing children who live away from their parents moved them deeply, and they realized that sharing goes far beyond material gifts. Sharing can take many forms—a smile, a listening ear, a hug, time, or even knowledge. The simple act of connection and compassion is as powerful as any material donation.
During the visit, our students played games, read stories, and shared experiences with the children at the Ashram School. They learned the true value of friendship, the importance of overcoming differences, and the joy of giving. These interactions fostered new bonds and helped the students understand that small acts of kindness can create a big impact.
Summan Ma’am has always believed that nurturing compassion and empathy at a young age helps shape students into grateful, caring, and responsible citizens. She encourages all of us to remember that even the smallest acts of kindness can have a profound and lasting effect.
As we reflect on this Founder’s Day, let us carry forward the lesson that sharing truly is caring—and that each of us has the power to make a difference in the world.
