“You know, farming looks mighty easy when your plow is a pencil, and you’re a thousand miles from the cornfield.”
― Dwight D. Eisenhower
To instill gratitude towards the land, farmers, and the environment, students of class VIII at St. Lawrence High School and Junior College engaged in an enriching activity. Equipped with soil, compost, seeds, and agricultural tools, the children prepared the land for sowing. They began by uprooting grass and cleaning the designated patch of land. Afterward, they mixed soil with compost to ready the bed for planting.
As seeds were sown, thoughts blossomed in their young minds about the immense efforts farmers invest in providing for the human community—efforts marked by selflessness. Their smiles, dirt-streaked hands, and earnest conversations conveyed a singular message – the vibrant energy they gained from tending the land. The teachers’ success lay in igniting a deep understanding and appreciation for the value of hard work and nature’s abundant gifts in these young, impressionable minds.
