Best out of Waste at St Lawrence High School and Junior College
The primary section of St. Lawrence High School and Junior College organized a “Best Out Of Waste” activity for the Grade 4 students during their art period. The theme was Envelope Making, using Zepto and Blinkit bags.
Nowadays, paper bags from online shopping are often thrown away. To spread awareness about reusing, we encouraged our little Lawrentians to bring these used bags from home. Within 15 days we were surprised to collect so many bags, which helped students understand how much paper waste is generated daily.
Under the guidance of their art teacher, students cut, folded, and decorated the bags to make beautiful and useful envelopes. These handmade envelopes can be used for gifting during weddings and other functions, instead of buying new ones from the shop. The aim of the activity was to teach students the importance of “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle” and to show them that waste can be turned into something useful with a little imagination.
The students participated with great enthusiasm and creativity. This activity gave our children a meaningful message that, even small steps can help keep our environment clean and make our Mother Earth greener. It was indeed a joyful and successful activity.
