Cultivating good habits even outside school at St Lawrence!

We first make our habits and then our habits make us. – John Dryden

The Primary section students of St. Lawrence High School and Junior College chose a simple action plan for this summer vacation that will get them closer to their goals and which they can do on a daily basis.

To-do lists are a wonderful tool that can be used for so many different things and they can be a great way to introduce these little children to time management skills. This time we encouraged our students to engage in off-screen activities and learn a new skill to develop leadership qualities this summer.

We made sure that the students have a plan in place of the inevitable remark – “I’m bored!” After discussing a lot, the students made a simple to-do list/checklist, which they determined to commit to. This was done to make them take an initiative for their own work and their own tasks.

This activity provided the students with the opportunity to overcome the obstacles of I can’t do it and take responsibility for themselves and learn to use time in a constructive manner.
