Field Trip Fun at St Lawrence!

The Primary Section students of St.Lawrence High School and Junior College were taught about the importance of a Newspaper and how Newspapers are made.

They were taken to the Lokmat office on their field trip and they learnt how the various articles of a newspaper are written and edited and published. They also saw how different topics – like business, science, sports, entertainment, spirituality, editorials etc – are chosen to be printed in a newspaper.

They learnt important technical things like how Newspapers print four coloured dots at the bottom of the page called ‘registration marks’ to ensure that the print is aligned properly. These CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow and black) colours are the base colours used in printing.

The children were very fascinated to learn these new things about an object they see daily at home. Such a learning experience was only possible due to the field visit.
