Fun with 3D shapes at St Lawrence High School and Junior College!

We at St.Lawrence High School and Junior College always believe in teaching through methods that make children discover the new learning on their own. Their own existing knowledge is alway made us of in this method.

In Grade 2 we started with an introduction to 3D shapes by showing them common objects like a cube, a cuboid, a cone,a cylinder and a sphere. The students were taught about the properties of these shapes such as edges, faces, vertices and curved surfaces.

They were made to realise how we come across a number of objects of different shapes & sizes in our day-to-day life like boxes, golf, balls, cans, doormats, ice-cream cones etc. The motive behind this concept was to make them understand that in 3D shapes we can store things & we can see them from all the sides.
