Grade 3 Students Explore the Wonders of Nature at the Botanical Garden
“Let nature be your teacher.” – William Wordsworth
The Grade 3 students of St. Lawrence High School and Junior College embarked on an exciting field trip to the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden, immersing themselves in the beauty and wisdom of nature.
Their journey began with a fascinating sight—a butterfly-shaped garden designed to attract butterflies, with carefully chosen flowers that serve as their food source. The guide explained that these delicate creatures are most commonly seen between November and January, capturing the students’ curiosity about seasonal changes in nature.
As they ventured deeper, the students marveled at towering Ashoka and Mango trees, observed a man-made pond, and spotted an Asian Green Bee-eater and a Common Kingfisher, alongside turtles and vibrant fish. The sight of peacocks and peahens further added to their excitement.
Amidst the lush greenery, the children enjoyed their meals, surrounded by the calming presence of nature. This trip helped them to truly appreciate their ecosystem and their oneness with nature and all its living beings.
