At St. Lawrence High School and Junior College, the students of Grade 1 are introduced to a new theme about various topics each month. This time the theme was a little bit unknown to them. They were very curious to learn about “Leather on our Feet”.

The teachers of Grade 1 showed them videos and power point presentations while explaining each and every step involved in leather making. The students were also shown real things which are made up of leather like (belts, bags, purses, wallets, watches, shoes, clothes etc). 

They learnt how dead animals’ hides are removed and softened for making the leather products that we use in our day to day life. The idea that no animal should be killed for their skin just to make leather was reinforced with the students.
