National Symbols and their power!
At St.Lawrence High school and Junior college the Grade 1 students learnt about the national symbols of India and how they represent the country’s history, culture and values.
They learnt about the national animal of India i.e. the tiger and how it is a majestic and powerful predator and how it symbolizes strength and beauty.
They also learnt about the national bird of India – the peacock – and how it is a graceful and vibrant bird that represents beauty and diversity.
They also got to know about the national flower – the lotus – and how it grows in muddy water but still is pure and symbolizes spiritual growth, beauty and purity.
Their curious minds also were introduced to the national tree – the banyan tree – and how it represents wisdom, strength and unity.
Our children realised the importance of the national symbols and how they each stand for such a crucial virtue. They learnt all these national symbols through various activities. Through this session the children learnt to value and respect their country.
