On how to build homes at St Lawrence High School and Junior College!

“The object of education is to prepare the young to educate themselves throughout their lives” – Robert Maynard Hutchins

At St.Lawrence High School and Junior College,  our little champs of Grade-3 got acquainted with the different types of houses.

The teachers introduced them to how traditional houses looked and how they got affected by various climatic conditions. This helped them to understand what materials were used for construction in different houses in the regions of India.

They learnt about two broad categories – temporary and permanent houses. They also learnt how rural and urban areas affect the materials used in building houses. They were also excited to learn how to decorate homes and how to keep them clean.

As a creative extension of this topic, the Lawrentian students designed a variety of homes showcasing their creativity and imagination which allowed each child to express their unique vision of a perfect house.

This activity taught them how eco-friendly and sustainable resources are available to construct houses and how to keep reinventing what all they use in the coming years.
