The Lawrentian Teachers play around with tunes!

“Where words fail, music speaks.”

– Hans Christian Andersen

Research shows that music training boosts IQ, focus and persistence in children. The value of incorporating music into a child’s education cannot be understated. An education rich in music improves students’ cognitive function and to bring this concept to life, St Lawrence High School arranged a workshop for the grade 1 and 2 teachers.

Various topics about music were discussed in this workshop. Also the doubts faced by the teachers were resolved. Madhura madam gave guidance on how to present the subject of music in front of the students. They were introduced to the names of different instruments and learned more about how to use them. Mayuri teacher and Bhagyashree teacher gave a demo on the subject of music. All the teachers present participated in it.

This workshop was very useful from both the teacher’s and child’s point of view because music education improves and develops language skills in children. Music stimulates the brain, and with its varied sounds and lyrics, students are exposed to a large amount of vocabulary in a short amount of time. There is also an added bond of joy and fun between the teacher and each pupil.
