Lawrentians ignite a sense of patriotism and national pride

The 77th Independence Day of our Nation was celebrated with great gusto and fervour by the Management, Staff and Students of St. Lawrence High School and Junior College.

The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the national flag by the Trustee of the school, Colonel (Retd.) Vijay Datta. The school choir, the Lawrentian Symphony, presented the National Anthem and the Jhanda Geet to express the joy of our freedom.

Mehvish Ansari and Devang Borse, students of class 9 and 7 respectively, through their powerful speeches, reminded everyone of their responsibility towards the nation and the importance of always putting the welfare of the nation first.

The students of grade 9 presented a dance performance that amped up the patriotic fervour in the audience. The school choir’s rendition of ‘Maa Tujhe Salam’ gave goosebumps to all those who heard the song.

The program culminated with the motivational words by the school Trustee, Col (Retd.) Vijay Datta where he reminded all the students that they are lucky to be born in a country where they have freedom of speech and expression. He also spoke about how one doesn’t need to become a soldier in order to serve the nation, doing the best in their own respective fields is the best way to serve the nation.
