Onam celebration at St. Lawrence!
For any child’s education to be holistic, they need to know of their own motherland and its unique, diverse abundance.
The Grade 1 students at St. Lawrence High School and Junior College are aware of all the states of India and this time they discussed Kerala and it’s famous festival – Onam.
The basic significance of the festival was talked about and the children even enacted the story of Mahabali and discussed the importance of the Banana leaf and how the people of Kerala make 13 delicious dishes for this festival.
They saw videos of Snake boat races, kolam and the folk dance of Kerala and thoroughly enjoyed watching all this. Our small artists tried to make beautiful kolam with rice flour.
With all these activities our children celebrated the festival in their own small way by imbibing the spirit of it.
