The Grade 2 students of St.Lawrence High School and Junior College were introduced to the concept of Rocks & Minerals. They were shown different types of rocks & minerals that we use in our day to day lives.

They also learnt about the different uses of rocks & minerals in everyday items – such as Marble which is used for flooring, Quartz which is used in watches, Talc which is used to make talcum powder etc. They were all fascinated to learn how much a part of our lives these rocks are.

The students also did an activity using pebbles which they really enjoyed because they used different types of rocks & minerals to make a picture instead of using colors or paint. To make their pictures more beautiful they went around in their surroundings to find out different types of pebbles in different shapes & sizes.

Through this activity they were able to learn the value and usefulness of these rocks and minerals in our daily lives while also imaginatively using them as resources to create art.
