The power of recycling taught through stories!

The Grade 1 students of St Lawrence learn about different authors each week through the year. This gives them an idea about different cultures and the stories that emerge from them.

This time they learnt about Jane Yolen, who is an American writer of fantasy, science fiction and children’s books. Jane Yolen’s different types of book based on dinosaurs were studied by our kids through which they got an idea of how to use waste paper in different ways.

An art activity was conducted in grade 1 in which students used balloons and waste paper to make a dinosaur egg. They loved doing this activity and bringing their creative ideas to life by making different designs and by using different colours.

Thus they not only learnt new stories by a world famous author, but also learnt to reuse paper imaginatively and create something new.
