The right attitude towards our diet!

The Grade 4 students of St Lawrence High School and Junior College were taught that a balanced diet is one that fulfills all of a person’s nutritional needs, without going over the recommended daily calorie intake. Humans need a certain amount of calories and nutrients to stay healthy and for the smooth functioning of their bodies. The 8 and 9 year olds of our school were taught early on how to start maintaining healthy eating habits for life.

They were made to bring healthy and nutritious food in their tiffin boxes, so that they realize how each and every meal can be planned and made healthy. The teachers gave them daily options like dal, sabzi, roti, salads, sprouts and pickles as some of many simple and healthy homemade dishes. They were all taught the importance of saying no to junk food and were encouraged to only consume it once in a while.

Thus, we started sowing the seeds of this important habit right from now so that the children can urge their families also to start adopting healthier choices per day.
